Sign up – and give us your views on your paper

The Bury Free Press is YOUR newspaper – and we value your opinion.

That's why we are setting up a Bury Free Press Reader Panel.

By joining the panel and giving your views, you can directly contribute to the development of the Bury Free Press and ensure we produce the best possible newspaper and website based on what you want.

Maybe you want more sports coverage or think we need to improve our letters pages?

Or perhaps you think we need some more columnists or make other changes?

Maybe there's an issue in your neighbourhood that you think we should be campaigning about or perhaps you simply want to let us know when we've done something well – or not so well.

The Bury Free Press is at the very heart of life in West Suffolk – but we can only stay there with your help.

As a panellist, you and other readers will be given a voice to tell us exactly what you think about the content in the newspaper and on the website by answering short questionnaires.

Once you're a member,we'll share our results with you and tell you what we’re doing as a result of your feedback.

It's easy to join – just scroll down the page and fill in our very short survey.

We are grateful for your valued readership – and look forward to hearing from you.

Barry Peters, Editor,
Bury Free Press

Our Reader Panel is open to anybody who ever reads the Bury Free Press or visits our website. It doesn't matter how often you read the newspaper or visit the site – you're eligible to join the panel if you care about the local area and read the news (in print or online) every now and then.

But what's the Panel all about? Basically, by joining the panel, you're giving us the opportunity to contact you every now and then to ask your thoughts and views. We'll ask you questions about the newspaper and website; for example, we might ask what you think about a particular section of the newspaper, how you rate a particular columnist or how interested you are in some changes we're considering. We'll also ask for your thoughts and views on what's happening in our area.

We're proud to stand up for readers across our circulation area and we'd appreciate your help in making sure we're focusing on the issues that matter to you.

The Panel works like this…

* People register to join the Panel

* We send them a short survey, via email or post (we prefer email), to learn a bit more about each Panel member

* We then send out further short surveys every now and then to the Panel. At the same time, we try to share the results of the last survey with the Panel and get feedback

If you join the Panel, you’re not obliged to take part in the research (but we obviously hope you will!). Why not sign up today and you can see for yourself what it’s all about?

If you join the Panel but later decide you don't want to take part, that's fine – just tell us and we'll stop contacting you.

If you join our Reader Panel, we hope you'll find it a fun experience. Whilst we'll certainly touch on some serious subjects in our surveys, we'll try to make it very easy for you to share your views with us and in a way that might be quite entertaining.

To show our appreciation, we enter Panel members into Prize Draws to win various prizes and we give members access to all sorts of freebies, to thank them for their involvement.

We also share the survey results with Panel members. That way they can see the impact of their feedback on the newspaper and website.

Possibly the best reason to get involved is this - you can influence the content and tone of the Bury Free Press and its website. That's got to be a good thing!

We're proud to serve the people of West Suffolk and we'll continue to stand up for what's best for the area.

Join our Panel and you can help with our mission.

We're happy to make some promises to you…

1. We'll keep your feedback anonymous, unless you give us permission to quote you

2. We'll keep your feedback confidential, i.e your specific feedback won't be shared with anybody else

3. We'll manage the Panel in line with the Market Research Society's Code of Conduct

4. We won't share your contact information with anybody else

5. We won't send you promotional or marketing messages

6. If you tell us you want to leave the Panel at any stage, we'll remove your details immediately
